A Work in Progress

It's clear that my house is a work in progress, but apparently my blogging skills are as well. Things have been so fast-paced the past couple months that I haven't done a very good job of allocating time to anything other than cleaning, wall priming, and working. There have certainly been some updates and transformations that need to be recapped here, but in the meantime, I figured it would be a good idea to have a quick check-in to let you know that things are still coming along. To do so, I am sharing a rare moment of whimsy, which I was empowered to pursue due to the fact it will be temporary.
I've decided to really lean into the avocado vibe of the kitchen, and it's starting to grow on me. Like most of the other rooms, there was wallpaper in the kitchen which was holding smoke smell, so I needed to take it down and prime the walls. In the first several rooms I prepped for primer, I took the time to repair and spackle all of the holes and blemishes, and in some cases applied a skim coat in areas. However, this process was taking way longer than I had available, if I wanted to make sure all the rooms would be primed by the end of July (when all of my furniture will need to come in). Therefore, I changed course, and decided to just get the primer on the walls for now to address the smoke concern, and I will then take my time prepping the walls and ceilings in each room for the finish coats of paint later.
There was a phone jack in the kitchen which I removed, and it left quite a large opening. In case any critters make their way into the wall cavities, I don't want a hole like that hanging around on the interior of the house, even if it will be temporary. I therefore ordered what was described as a vinyl decal to temporarily address the issue. What came was a pixelated sticker which was about an inch smaller than advertised, but luckily it was just big enough to get the job done. This little guy will keep me company until I find time to deal with the gaping hole behind him!
